Temitayo walks into an arena, and the world is likely to stand still for a second. He’s known for his amiable character like what you see in the movies😊 until you find out you’re looking at a geek. His fingers have written more than a million lines of codes at Curacel, working with the avenger team — as the engineers of Curacel are known, to drive insurance inclusion in emerging markets.

Hi Temitayo, could you tell us what excited you about joining Curacel?

A: I value the company’s vision and I am inspired by what we aim to achieve in the world through insurance. I am also excited that I get to contribute my skills and knowledge to this.

Working in an environment where I create an impact on the world has always been what I looked forward to.

Is working here different from what you expected?

A: No, my expectations of what it feels like to work here are met. For example, I had expectations to work in an environment where I can contribute to the team openly, receive appreciation for my contributions and also grow within the company.

Apart from your day to day work at Curacel, what else are you working on right now?

A: I’m working on building open relationships with my colleagues and my social life at large.

What are things you are passionate about?

A: As a software developer, I am passionate about helping people and creating value through the products I build. I am also passionate about uplifting people and looking out for them. I enjoy giving people healthy advice and feedback when they need it.

How has working for Curacel enabled you to chase your passion for broadening your horizon?

A: Working for curacel has enabled me to create a lot of value through the products I build, driving up insurance inclusion, thereby affecting the lives of people — creating economic prosperity for many in emerging markets.

What makes Curacel unique?

A: For me, I will say the Vision and Values. What the company hopes to achieve and how it has a positive impact on the world.

How has working at Curacel changed your work and life?

A: Working at curacel has changed my work because I have had to work with different teams and people to solve a problem and this is indeed a change in my work pattern.

What is your favourite thing about working at Curacel?

A: My favourite thing about working at curacel is the collaborative environment with my colleagues, everyone shares the same vision and is dedicated to the mission. The work culture is inspiring and we are all encouraged to work well, give our best and go the extra mile.

If you could learn one new professional skill, what would it be?

A: In other to create more value, I’ll learn about cloud computing because of its top 3 business models.

Say you’re independently wealthy and don’t have to work, what would you do with your time?

A: I would learn how to play a lead guitar and violin, I love what the sound it produces does to my ears.

Curacel rebranded recently with a new product launch and YC announcement; how did you feel being a part of the team?

A: I feel really good to be able to add more value through another product.

Do you love working from home or would you rather be in the office?

A: I would love to work in an office if it’s a street away from my house or somewhere where commuting won’t be a problem.

Working remote, what country would you like to work from? And why?

A: Portugal because it’s a more stable country, language won’t be a barrier and the weather is pretty awesome.

What are you so excited about in life? What is that one thing you will do even if no monetary reward is involved?

A: Live. With or without money I’ll live.

What’s so beautiful about life that keeps you awake every hour of the day?

A: Change is the most beautiful thing about life for me.

If you could switch job roles with someone for a day, who would it be and why?

A: I really don’t want to switch roles with anyone.
